— Cumberland County authorities were searching Tuesday for a 31-year-old man wanted on various drug charges who could be armed and is considered potentially violent.

Authorities have been searching for Garland Brandon Maness since October.

Investigators executing a search warrant at a residence on Alamance Road in Hope Mills discovered a large quantity of narcotics and weapons.

Authorities have attempted to get Maness to turn himself in, but he has refused, Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler said in a statement.

Anyone with information about Maness' whereabouts should call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.

You have to love they way the cops always use the word "narcotics", when talking about pot. Narcotics are manufactured. Pot is grown out of the soil. It is not a narcotic.

What makes him potentially violent? Having a gun AND drugs. Never knew my grandma was potentially violent.

@disgusted2010, do you know what an Ad Hominem fallacy is? It's when someone ignores the message, and instead, goes after the person delivering the information. Basically, you can't formulate a logical rebuttal, so you lash out at the messenger.

IMO, I made some good points and asked some good questions. Are you able to answer any of them?

I wish the department of correction would restrict internet access.

Victimless crime. How often do you hear about people selling alcohol illegally? ...or tobacco? Not very often, because it taxed and regulated.

If you exert your Puritanical views on other people...and make what they do illegal...then *you* create criminals of those who enjoy freedom and liberty...and jails fill up and release the REAL criminals.

We already have laws against stealing, breaking and entering, etc. What is wrong with legalizing drugs and, *if someone steals or robs*, charge them with that crime?

But, keep your Big Government nose out MY business. Is that really too much to ask, Mr. & Mrs. Busy Body?
