Cumberland authorities seek woman who stole purse from church parking lot

Posted November 25, 2014

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office asked for the public's help Tuesday to identify and locate a woman who is wanted for breaking into a vehicle and stealing a woman's purse while the victim attended church services.

The burglar has been seen on bank surveillance video multiple times since the Oct. 5 burglary, and authorities say she has deposited fraudulent checks into the victim's account. She then returns to the bank ATM to withdraw money from the checks she deposited before the bank has had the opportunity to verify the authenticity of the checks.

The victim was robbed of more than $800 in a two-day period, authorities said.

The burglar is between 32 and 35 years old and stands about 5 feet 5 inches tall. She wears her hair in a short, cropped style, and she has also been seen wearing glasses in the surveillance videos.

Anyone who can identify the woman should call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.

Not trying to blame the victim here but how did this woman get the PIN and took 2 days for the bank to freeze the account assuming the owner reported the purse stolen?
