— Cumberland County authorities released surveillance photos Wednesday of a man and woman wanted in connection with the May 2 assault of a Florida truck driver.

Wael Wael, of Jacksonville, Fla., was taken to a local hospital in the early morning hours Wednesday after a passer-by found him in the median of Goldsboro Road near Interstate 95.

Wael was in critical condition following the assault, and authorities said Wednesday he is in stable condition after suffering severe head trauma.

The photos released by investigators show a man and woman at a local convenience store on the morning of the assault.

Authorities are also looking for a gray Mitsubishi Mirage with a rear spoiler, black grill protector and a bumper sticker on the front.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.

I'm just wondering where you get your information since WRAL either can't get it or won't report it.

"And people said I was delusional when I mentioned this was a hate crime."

I've read the story three times and I still don't see any solid evidence of a hate crime.
