Man injured in wreck along US 264 in Zebulon

Posted October 31, 2013

EMS and firefighters worked to extract a person from a crashed vehicle Thursday along U.S. 264 in Zebulon.

— Eastbound U.S. Highway 264 was closed Thursday in Zebulon for just about an hour after a crash near N.C. Highway 97.

A State Highway Patrol spokesman said a man driving at a high rate of speed went off the road, hit some trees, went airborne and was trapped inside his crumpled car for about 40 minutes until emergency workers could free him from the wreckage.

Authorities said the driver, whose name they did not release, was wearing a seatbelt and it likely saved his life.

He was taken to WakeMed and was charged with reckless driving.

lovinOBX, what makes you think a 'posted' speed limit had 'any' bearing on this particular accident?

Seems like he was just bent on destruction - can't fix 'stupid' or 'it just won't happen to me' mentality.

Sure lets raise the speed limit. I travel 264 daily. Unreal how fast these people drive on a regular basis. A danger to themselves and the rest of us. SLOW DOWN PEOPLE! For goodness sake, leave a little earlier for your destination....
