DURHAM, N.C. — Crews put out the hot spots of a lingering fire at an abandoned motel in Durham early Tuesday morning.

On Sunday, firefighters were called out to the Duke Inn, a former Days Inn motel on Redwood Road.

The fire originated from at least two different spots, which is very suspicious, according to arson investigators with the Durham's Sheriff's Department.

Durham police that this fire was the third suspicious blaze at the motel since January 2005. The two previous fires were determined to be arson, and investigators said this one was also intentionally set.
