RALEIGH, N.C. — Firefighters have brought under control a fire that erupted in a north Raleigh house early Sunday.

Authorities said that flames were shooting out of the roof of the two-story home at 2620 Jasper Lane when firefighters arrived. Crews from the Durham Highway, Wake Forest and Bayleaf fire departments labored to bring it under control.

No one was injured, and the four people home at the time escaped safely, firefighters said. They are staying with relatives in the area.

Flames destroyed the roof and did extensive damage to the rest of the house.

Neighbors said the fire started in the rear of the house. The cause hasn't been determined yet.
