I had a fire that was intentionally started in my classroom during my first year of teaching. Certainly praying for the staff at Rand Road.

@edith wharton - Schools have insurance just like homeowners.

Hope the damage isn't too extensive, and they're able to able to begin the year with little impact.

    Fire insurance?

  • edith wharton Jul 19, 2011

Wonder where they will find the money to repair the school since we are, apparently, so broke? Hey, maybe one of those billionaires who doesn't pay taxes will donate the money!

Glad it was not too bad.

Anyone know why it was decided to change many of these schools from YR to only one track? Track 4 is the nearest to traditional. Might just as well make the school traditional because with only one track, you lose many of the benefits of YR. Makes no sense to me.

This is one of the schools that got switched this year...they are year round, but have not started yet...which is certainly a blessing. Reports say that it was contained to one classroom, but lots of smoke damage. Teachers were due back for work session next week.
