CREEDMOOR, N.C. — City officials on Tuesday advised some Creedmoor residents to boil their water following a water main rupture.

The advisory affects residents and businesses from Ascot Drive to all areas east of Creedmoor, including businesses in the Food Lion Plaza. The Pine Valley subdivision isn't included in the advisory.

A water line on N.C. Highway 56 near the entrance to the Golden Pond subdivision ruptured, and crews were expected to repair the line by 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Because the water pressure in the distribution system has dropped, city officials said there is a potential for bacteria to get into the system.

Until tests confirm the water is free of bacteria, officials recommended that residents boil water used for human consumption – drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and making ice – or use bottled water.
