Cree bulb recall

After a dozen reports of LED lamps that overheated and melted, Cree issued a recall Friday for Cree LED T8 Replacement Lamps sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and Amazon.com from September 2015 through May 2016.

The irony is that the new recall includes lamps were provided as free replacements for a previous recall in June 2015 as well as new lamps sold since September 2015.

The white lamps have a cylindrical shape and measure 48 inches long. "Cree," ''BT848 Series Lamp," the product number and a four-digit date code are printed on the lamp or on a white label affixed to the lamp. More than 110,000 lamps were sold in the United States and Canada.
