Crash knocks out power near Henderson

Posted November 26, 2013

— About 1,200 Duke Energy Progress customers in Vance County were without power Tuesday night following a traffic crash outside Henderson that left the driver with minor injuries.

The crash happened about 6 p.m. on N.C. Highway 39 near Foster Road. State troopers said a woman driving on worn tires in the rain lost control and ran off the roadway.

The woman, whose name was not immediately release, hit a utility pole carrying six power lines, troopers said. She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries to her arm.

Duke Energy Progress trucks had to be parked on the roadway because the shoulders were too soft from rain, troopers said.

The utility was estimating power would be restored about 10:30 p.m.

Her worn tires caused her to lose control on the wet pavement resulting in the crash. Couldn't have made it much clearer in the report.
