Crash, fuel spill close Trinity Road in Cary

Posted September 11, 2012

— Cary officials closed northbound Trinity Road at Chapel Hill Road at lunchtime Tuesday after a tractor-trailer crashed, spilling diesel from a broken fuel line.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 10 a.m., but details were not immediately released. Officials said multiple agencies were working to clean up the spilled fuel, and police were rerouting traffic.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area. The road is expected to reopen by the evening commute.

I do not get why there are so many accidents at this intersection. I go through here to and from work every day. Sometimes go through for lunch. This isn't a blind intersection or anything. I think some people are just being impatient and running the light.

Isn't this the exact same spot where three teenagers were hit by a box truck about three weeks ago, and about the same time of day? Was the cause for the accident similar? (e.g. someone running a light or failing to yield right of way, etc.)
