Planning a Halloween party or just want to make your house more festive? This “Boo Banner” is simple to make and totally customizable. I wanted to make our entryway a little spookier for Halloween and this did the trick!

Here’s what I used:
  • 3 sheets of scrapbooking paper in a Halloween print
  • thin cardboard for backing the scrapbooking paper (optional)
  • ribbon
  • self-adhesive glitter letters

First, I cut my scrapbooking paper into pennants. Since I want my banner to last for more than one use, I backed each paper pennant with thin cardboard so it’d be sturdier and help prevent the paper from curling. I glued the paper to the cardboard using a glue stick and put each pennant under a heavy book for a few minutes to press them.

Next, I used a hole puncher to add two holes to the top of each pennant. I stuck on self-adhesive glitter letters to spell the word “boo,” and I laced black ribbon with orange dots through the holes in the pennant to use for connecting and hanging the banner. After evenly spacing the pennants along the ribbon, I tied black ribbon with orange jack-o-lanterns onto the front top of each one as an extra detail.

I hung our banner onto the mirror at our entryway, but it would look great in any doorway, across the mantel, over any window, on the edge of a table, or even just along the wall. Of course you can use whatever materials best match your décor, and you can change the saying if you prefer. By making just a few changes, it’s easy to use this simple idea to make a festive banner for any holiday or season!!

Happy Halloween!
