There's a reason why Frances Bean Cobain is not your typical child of a celebrity.

The 24-year-old daughter of the late rocker Kurt Cobain and actress Courtney Love was intentionally kept away from the spotlight.

Love told "Good Morning America's" Michael Strahan she tried to give Cobain a "normal childhood, as normal as possible for living in Beverly Hills."

The actress is promoting a new Lifetime original movie "Menendez: Blood Brothers," which is based on the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez who murdered their parents in 1989.

Love portrays their mother, Mary "Kitty" Menendez, in the movie.

Frances Bean was only a toddler in 1994 when her father, the lead singer for Nirvana, committed suicide.

Love said Frances Bean has some of her father's best qualities.

"She's enigmatic like he was," Love said. "She's got a very dry, kind of, sick sense of humor that he had. I mean he had a really sick sense of humor, but dry."

The mother and daughter live two minutes away from each other. Love said they enjoy creating art and playing guitar together.

"I'm so proud of her," Love said. "She won't do anything until she does it on her own. She's very stubborn that way."
