WENDELL, N.C. — The Wake County Sheriff's Office served a criminal summons on the former principal of Carver Elementary School July 25, authorities said.

Allison Baker, 41, resigned from her position June 1, before the school system could complete an investigation into her conduct, said Michael Evans, a spokesman for Wake County schools.

Evans said Baker had been on paid leave since May 22 after a "negative interaction with a student."

Evans declined to provide more detail about the interaction with the student, saying it was a private personnel matter.

Baker is due in court Aug. 6.
