Coupon insert preview 12/16: Sad, sad news

It looks like there will be NO coupon inserts in the paper this week and there will be NO coupon inserts in the paper next week! We won't see another coupon insert until the P&G insert on 12/30! Can you believe it? Apparently, SS decided not to offer the insert that was planned for this weekend, leaving us high and dry.

On the bright side, I now have more time to spend with my family during the holidays and to catch up on the coupon filing I still need to finish! More Info Smart Shopper coupon database

If you buy the paper at a store on Sunday (instead of getting a subscription), make sure you buy it INSIDE the store, not from the paper boxes. You want to make sure your paper has the coupons in it before you pay, which you can't do if you are buying from the paper box.

ddchance, I agree that coupon values have declined over the past two years. The example you gave is a little extreme though...P&G is notorious for low value or lots of stipulations on their coupons. The $2 off Tide was a rare exception for their generally ho hum coupon values.

Question... are most folks finding that the coupons are not nearly as good of a value as say over 6 months ago or so. Example. ...$1.00 off of 3 tides.. verses.. $2.00 off of one tide.. Thanks in advance

LOL Faye - ok, you KNOW me too well :) Yup, sewing hours away on gifts and listening to WRAL radio because they have the BESTEST mix of holiday music - so I should be hearing you on there today!

Glad to hear you'll be using the fabric bags too! I haven't even made any this year - too many other projects going on.

Caniac - all the sales ads should be in the paper - just no coupons. FYI - the Walmart coupon policy online specifically indicates you do not have to have the ad to price match. They are supposed to have them (but usually don't).

Do you know if the regular sales papers / ads will be in the paper this week? I like to "price match" at wal-mart and use coupons on top of that. The kicker is you have to have the sales paper.

Thanks for letting us know. I can put in a vacation stop and extend my subscription. Who needs a paper with no coupons. LOL!

Whew! One thing I can mentally take of the 'guilt' list of things I don't have time for :)

I agree Faye, while it's sad, it will be giving us a much needed break to do more fun things with family or for others! I can live with that!
