Coupon insert preview 12/16: Sad, sad news

It looks like there will be NO coupon inserts in the paper this week and there will be NO coupon inserts in the paper next week! We won't see another coupon insert until the P&G insert on 12/30! Can you believe it? Apparently, SS decided not to offer the insert that was planned for this weekend, leaving us high and dry.

On the bright side, I now have more time to spend with my family during the holidays and to catch up on the coupon filing I still need to finish! More Info Smart Shopper coupon database

If you buy the paper at a store on Sunday (instead of getting a subscription), make sure you buy it INSIDE the store, not from the paper boxes. You want to make sure your paper has the coupons in it before you pay, which you can't do if you are buying from the paper box.

If you find you have extra coupons or ones that expire before you use them - consider donating them to a "Coups for Troops" program. A quick internet search will provide you with many options. You can even adopt a family to send your expired coupons to. The servicemen/women can use expired coupons for 6 months after their expiration date.

Well, no coupon inserts suck, however I am soooooo far behind on my cutting & filing coupons it's not funny!! My binder has been in the car for months and I have a basket full of q's that need cutting....I print & accumulate more than I can actually use. I don't spend a lot of time on them I just get them on a as need basis. Usually right befor going to the store, I check the ads & then look for my q's. I find I spend less & just get what i'm going for.Yet I let a lot expire (disappointing :-( )!! I hope to get caught up & new year resolution to GET ORGANIZED, manage time better& of course SAVE $$$$. Happy holidays & savings to all & of course you & your family Faye.

straitlover1965 - You're right, some cashiers at Wal-Mart get such an attitude when you price match things. In fact, one lady at the Brier Creek Wal-Mart got such a bad attitude with me. I caught her ringing up the item I wanted to price match at full price then trying to ring it up again at the price match price. Needless to say, I totally avoid her from now on. I love to coupon & price match shop, but I agree, most of the coupons I see in the paper are ho hum. However, what helps me keep a "check" on my grocery bill is an app my husband purchased. It is called "Out of Milk". It remembers the price of the items I purchase, adds my tax, takes in account my coupons etc, it helps me better stay in "budget" when I go to the grocery store.

I agree with Nancy - it's a bit of a relief to have a few weeks off. I just caught up on my binder, and didn't know how I would keep it up over the holiday rush!

Faye, I thought WM had changed their policy again? Their commercials say prime match backed by ad match (or something similar, I know it has ad match in there). The one time I went to match soemthign when they atarted the big no ad needed campaign, the cashier tried to act like I was lying about the price. Therefore, I bring the ad in so I don't have to deal w/ that again! They still don't act very happy about matching ...

ddchance, I think they're trending smaller. Many years ago, they also seemed smaller and required more purchase to get that smaller discount. When the economy tanked, the deals got a lot better because they had to do that to keep sales up. Now, couponing is "in" and there's no stigma about using them. Only makes sense that manufacturer's have to scale back so they can start making money again.

I've personally switched to a lot of store brand stuff. I found it works/tastes as well, if not better, and is often less expensive than brand name plus coupon. Yeah, there's really incredible deals to be had but a lot of time those super deals are gone by the time I get there.
