Couple charged in Clayton Walmart parking lot attack
Clayton police have charged a mother and her boyfriend in n connection with a weekend assault in a Walmart parking lot.

Authorities said Friday that the victim, Eddie Vann, 28, was meeting his 6-year-old child’s mother, Patricia Denise Currie, for a custody exchange Sunday evening when he was attacked from behind and hit in the face and head with a metal object.
Vann had a broken jaw and lost some of his teeth, authorities said.
Investigators later determined that Currie's boyfriend, Tuarea Johnta Wright, was the alleged attacker.
Wright, 23, of 112 Caribou Lane, Clayton, with felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, assault inflicting serious injury and malicious assault by secret as well as misdemeanor counts of assault inflicting serious injury in the presence of a minor and communicating threats.
Currie, 30, of 1428 Bentonville Road in Four Oaks, was charged with one felonious count of aiding and abetting assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Wright was in the Johnston County jail Friday under a $150,000 bond. Currie was jailed under a $25,000 bond.
