Counterfit bills making their way around Central Texas

Lockhart — The Lockhart Police Department is urging local businesses to be on the lookout for these counterfeit bills making their way around some local businesses.
The invalid bank notes, as they are commonly called, are making their way around Lockhart and even finding their way around the country.
The department announced the findings on social media Wednesday night and coin expert Dale Givens says that these notes can be purchased for as little as $20 on the internet.
"You see them every now and again" says Givens, who has been collecting coins since his childhood.
Givens goes onto say that the bills are easily spotted, however to an unsuspecting clerk, they could be hard to spot.
The Lockhart Police Department identified these bills showing up in their community as Chinese bank teller training aides, used to help tellers learn to handle American currency.
It is unknown exactly how many of the invalid bills are in circulation, but officials are warning people to be aware and notify law enforcement of they come across them.
The bills have Asian writing on them and are easily spotted if you know what to look for says Givens.
The best thing a person could do if they see one is contract law enforcement says Givens. Advice that police strongly recommend as well.
