Posted — UpdatedIf you have a bunch of books at home from Wake County Public Libraries that you're waiting to return, here's your chance. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, June 4, and Thursday, June 11, the system is accepting books at select locations.
Those locations are:
- Cameron Village Regional Library
- Cary Regional Library
- East Regional Library
- Middle Creek Community Library
- North Regional Library
- Northeast Regional Library
- Southeast Regional Library
- West Regional Library
The drop-off opportunities are part of the system's work to reopen to the public. The locations will accept book returns, including interlibrary loans and book club kits. Residents can simply drive up and drop off their books with staff at outdoor stations, according to the county. At the first drop-off event last week, residents returned 14,013 books, the county says.
According to the system's website, library staff are working on a safe reopening plan. "We are in the process of developing a plan to bring books and libraries back to the community," the website says.
The criteria that they are evaluating include:
- Social distancing practices inside buildings
- Limiting library capacity, increased cleaning and sanitation
- Offering only experiences and services that the system can safely provide
- Temperature checks and appropriate PPE for all staff
