Oh, it's at the new jail.....wonder if that's a sign of things to come.

Earlier this morning, this story was that the 40 spools of copper weighed approximately 80,000 lbs! I don't think it was done with just a couple of men loading into a cargo van. If the weight estimate was correct, this would have had to be loaded onto a very large truck that would be easier to find.

I can see a two man group pulling this off in 4-5 minutes. I'm guessing the vehicle that drove up was a cargo van of the "generic white van" sort and when loaded left a good impression in the ground of the treads for a lead. I'm also agreeing this is an inside job where someone on the crew knew when it was there, where, how to approach it, and how to remove it. Anyone not show up for work at that site today?

It is amazing at the number of times a small business will have scrap wire stolen from them and the LEO can't do much to help find the person(s). Most scrap yards are not much help when it following the rules. Employees have been questioned, finger printed. Nothing of an inside job. It could be anyone from the place it was ordered, some friend of a worker, the driver or just someone who overheard the order being placed.

I know of a business that was having wire stolen ever other week and no one was caught. Even when a video tape was provided nothing happened.
