We all need that little kick in the morning to get moving. Whether you prefer iced or hot, coffee is one of the most popular drinks on the planet.

The Triangle has a great selection of coffee shops, which made my job very difficult. But I narrowed it down to my five favorite shops in the area. As a writer, I am focused on great places to enjoy amazing coffee, while working. I can't always be in the WRAL newsroom.

Jubala Village Coffee (Raleigh) - I absolutely love this place. Located in north Raleigh's Lafayette Village, this shop has great food and coffee. I love their almond lattes. And you must try their waffles! It is a great place to sit and chat or pull up a chair at the bar and get some work done.
Caffe Driade (Chapel Hill) - I drove by this place so many times before finally spotting the tiny sign on the side of the road with an arrow pointing down a trail. Hidden behind several trees, this is a hidden gem with outdoor tables and a relaxing atmosphere. With a great selection of coffee and tea, this is one spot you must visit at least once! They also offer wine, beer and cigars.

Cocoa Cinnamon (Durham) - Owners Leon and Areli Barrera de Grodski opened this extension of their popular mobile unit, bikeCoffee, earlier this year. They offer four specialty beans, including ones from Counter Culture and Carrboro Coffee. The owners here are really focused on the origins of the drinks. It is a great spot for coffee geeks or just someone looking for inventive drinks in a great setting. It is in a renovated gas station, so on pretty days they open the garage door to reveal a great patio. While you're there, check out their lobby floor. A local artist did an amazing design on it.
Sola Coffee (Raleigh) - A great selection of coffee and they even sell hot mini donuts to go with their drinks.
Straw Valley Cafe (Durham) - A beautiful courtyard and lounge are some of the highlights of this revitalized historic home. In addition to coffee, grab a light lunch, baked goods or even a glass of wine. Another great place to sit and write your blog.
If I didn't pick one of your favorites, that's OK. We did another round of Five Faves: Best Coffee Shops before and might have selected yours then. In the comments' selection below, tell me some of your favorite spots.
