Construction design firm to open operation in Mebane
A company that designs and builds apartments, student housing, hotels and senior living centers plans to open an operation in Alamance County that will create 205 jobs, officials said Monday.
Posted — UpdatedPrescient, which officials said has a design platform that offers a faster and more cost-effective alternative to conventional building, will invest more than $18.8 million in the facility at North Carolina Commerce Park near Mebane.
"Developers, architects, engineers and general contractors in the multi-unit housing industry are seeing the benefits of our platform, and this facility will allow us to efficiently service our customers up and down the I-95 corridor from Maine to Miami by being closer to their markets," Satyen Patel, chairman and chief executive of Prescient, said in a statement. "The demand for our system across the Mid-Atlantic, the South and Southeastern U.S. continues to grow, and we are looking forward to a long and productive partnership."
The company plans to employ designers, project managers, installers and other skilled positions. The average annual compensation will be $46,544, plus benefits. Alamance County’s average wage is currently $36,346 per year.
Prescient has qualified for a Job Development Investment Grant that will rebate up to $1,964,700 in employee withholding taxes if the company meeting annual hiring and investment targets over 12 years.
