Uptown Kids and Our Friend's Closet, two consignment stores in Falls River Town Center, will host a special consignment sale next month focusing on popular, high-end brands such as Matilda Jane for kids and Anthropologie for women.

Modern Vintage Resale is set for early next month at the shopping center off Durant Road. The sale will focus on what some call modern vintage or boho style clothing for women and children. It''s that flowy, vintage, bohemian/hippie look. Click here for the full list of accepted brands (which don't all offer boho stylings).

Consignors will receive 70 percent of the selling price. The sale will accept all seasons of clothing in all sizes for women and kids. There's still plenty of time to sign up to sell your items or to volunteer. Volunteers can shop early (and thus get the best deals).

Uptown Kids features a range of consignment clothing and gear for kids. Our Friend's Closet on Ravens Ridge Road focuses on designer and mall brands for teens and women. Local mom Jennifer Shoaf owns both shops. She opened Uptown Kids about four years ago. She purchased Our Friend's Closet from the original owners about two years ago.

"It completes the whole spectrum for clothing," she said of her purchase of Our Friend's Closet.

The idea for the sale was sparked, in part, by local lovers of the Matilda Jane brand of clothing. The clothing, sold only at in-home trunk shows, features bright patterns, ruffled pants and twirly tops. The items fly out of Uptown Kids when Shoaf has them in stock. Shoaf tells me local fans of the brand were looking for a place to sell and buy consignment pieces.

Matilda Jane dresses for kids sell for about $34 to $36 at Uptown Kids. They can retail new for $50 and more. (The line also carries clothing for women).

Brands for women such as Anthropologie garner the same enthusiasm from shoppers.

"We'd like to make it semi-annual," Shoaf tells me. "The first show we expect to be not as big as we want. As we get more plugged in with the different groups online, I definitely think it will grow."

The sale also will feature new items from vendors that sell pieces at Uptown Kids. Muchilunga, a clothing brand created by a local mom which was featured on Zulily, will have its entire inventory for sale.

Public shopping hours for Modern Vintage Resale will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 7; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 8; noon to 5 p.m., March 9. Some items will be 25 percent off on March 9.
