It's that time of year! Consignment sales are getting ready for the fall/winter season, and parents with closets clogged with clothes and toys that their kids have outgrown are ready to purge - and make a little cash on the side.

Consignment sales are pop-up sales, often run by local moms or church groups. They typically take place in empty storefronts or church fellowship halls. At most sales, the general public can sign up to consign items or volunteer. Consignors and volunteers are usually able to shop at the sales early - and get the best deals.

The first consignment sale of the season, as usual, is the massive Kids Exchange, which opens to the public on July 21. It's one of about two dozen on our 2017 fall/winter consignment sale database, which I just updated.

At the upcoming sales, you'll find lots of items that your kids will need for the coming months - think school clothes, winter coats, holiday attire, boots and more.

Happy shopping!
