Congratulations to the winner of our Harlem Globetrotters contest!

The Harlem Globetrotters' big event at the PNC Arena is this Friday and I'm excited to introduce the winner of our Junior Globetrotter contest!

Seirra-Raechelle Holmes, an 11-year-old sixth grader and honor student at Immaculata Catholic School in Durham, will be the night's Junior Globetrotter and get to sit on the bench during the event!

Seirra-Raechelle has a lot going on, her mom Valita Holmes tells me. She plays guitar in the band and piano, is a member of the Junior Historians Club and Chess Club and is a cheerleader.

A member of Mount Level Missionary Baptist Church, Seirra-Raechelle is in the youth choir, is a liturgical dance member and a junior usher. She also is a Girl Scout and a golf student. She loves to read and write and spend time with her pets - a dog, a cat and a fish.

"She is quite busy, but she is a delightful child and a very happy girl," said proud mom Valita, who is a network administrator in Durham County's Register of Deeds' Office. "This contest win will be a surprise to her. She also likes basketball and won second place for free-throws for 11-year-olds at her school."

Go Ask Mom will be at the event Friday night with some activities before the show. So be sure to stop by and see us if you're going. For all the details about the event, click here.

Congratulations to the Holmes family!
