Competition Dining: Battle Molasses and cheese
RALEIGH, N.C. — After five years and hundreds of meals, the Got to Be NC Competition Dining Series will come to a close on Nov. 20, organizers announced Thursday.

Competition Dining founder and host Jimmy Crippen will be retiring from his position in order to pursue other ventures.

Over its history, the series has hosted more than 300 interactive dinners featuring 1,830 locally sourced dishes to the delight of more than 30,000 diners.

The Competition Dining Battle of Champions dinners are Friday through Sunday and conclude Nov. 18 and 20. During the dinners, the six chef teams who won Competition Dining battles earlier in the year will battle it out in the kitchen while the public gets to savor their meals at a full-service dinner. Guests vote for their favorite dishes throughout the dinner without knowing which chef makes each dish. At the end of each battle, the teams come out from the kitchen, and the winners are crowned.
