Go Ask Mom returns to North Hills this Saturday for a fun, free event at the Midtown Raleigh Farmers' Market!

We'll be there from 8 a.m. to noon in the commons next to Starbucks and Ben & Jerry's! North Hills will bring out their large, colorful foam blocks for the kids to play with. The market will offer all kinds of fresh produce, baked goods, meats and more.

And Go Ask Mom will bring some more kid-friendly fun too. Here's what's scheduled!

8 a.m. to noon: We'll have the blocks from North Hills for the kids to play with, along with crafts and snacks (while supplies last). Relax on a bench with some coffee while your kids (because you know they will be up!) have some fun.
We also will be collecting diapers, wipes and new and used children's books for The Diaper Train, a wonderful local group that distributes the items to needy families. For much more about the group, read my earlier post. They hand out as many as 5,000 diapers a week and help a lot of families around here.
And, all morning, we'll be running a contest for a $20 gift certificate to Pullen Place, the cafe at Raleigh's Pullen Park, along with a prize pack that includes T-shirts, a bag and water bottles!
9 a.m. to 10 a.m.: Stroller Strides Midtown Raleigh will offer a free Stroller Barre workout class. The class is for moms and their stroller-aged kids, ages 6 weeks to 4 years (or older if they'll sit in a stroller). Stroller Barre is the newest class format from Stroller Strides and incorporates elements of ballet, Pilates and the Barre method into a full-body workout that is specific to the pre- and postnatal mom and her stroller-age children. Bring your stroller and a yoga mat or towel. Pregnant moms are welcome with doctor or midwife's permission. You must pre-register for the class by emailing Missy Currin at missycurrin@strollerstrides.net by noon, Friday, as space is limited.
10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: The always fun Sandbox band for kids and families plays! The fun-loving group of guys, who happen to be dads too, puts their own folksy spin on classic kids songs and plays originals too. These guys always put on a great show and my family always looks forward to seeing them (they'll be playing the Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh later Saturday afternoon).
9 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Lil' Chef, the cooking studio for kids and teens in North Hills, will have a fun food craft. Kids can decorate their own Halloween cookies! From 11 a.m. to noon, they'll have cookies inside the studio to decorate.
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: The Chick-fil-A cow from the Chick-fil-A at North Hills will pop by for a visit!

I hope to see you there!
