Color Me Rad, Oktoberfest events lead our weekend best bets

RALEIGH, N.C. — We already covered all of the Halloween events happening in the Triangle this weekend. Now, onto everything else happening this busy weekend. 

The North Carolina State Fair rages on through Sunday, so make sure to get your last deep-fried fix! 

Live music, beer, liquor and German-style food all highlight the RailHawks second annual Soktoberfest this Saturday. This festival starts at 5 p.m. and is before the RailHawks home game versus the Atlanta Silverbacks. Tickets, which start at $10, get you access to sample and vote in the homebrew competition.

Raleigh runners are gearing up for the Color Me Rad 5K this Saturday at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh. This 3.1-mile course is all about fun. It is not timed and participants are doused with colored paint at various stops. Registration is $50.

Triangle Bikeworks is hosting the Triangle’s first showing of the International Bicycle Film Festival on Saturday at the new Full Frame Theater, located in the Power Plant building at downtown Durham’s American Tobacco Historic District. The Bicycle Film Festival was designed to celebrate cycling through music, art and film and has sold out internationally. Films being shown delve into the life of a polo ball, biker boys in love and the Kenyan National Cycling Team. Proceeds of the festival will support programs designed to get youth active and outdoors. Tickets are $10.

Motorco Music Hall in Durham is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday starting at noon. This free, family-friendly event will include a mini-parade lead by the Bulltown Strutters. German music, dancing and a lot of beer and German cuisine will be on tap.

The Junior League of Raleigh presents its annual Shopping Spree at the Raleigh Convention Center this weekend. The four-day start to the holiday shopping season kicks off Thursday. A pass for all four days is $10.

And finally, Michael Buble will be playing the PNC Arena on Friday night. Tickets are still available.
