Posted — UpdatedThe front, located just northwest of the Triangle, began moving through Monday evening, bringing cooler temperatures and showers to the area.
"It's a much needed rain. There are a lot of locations that haven't seen a good rain in over a week," WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said.
Maze said there is a chance for showers overnight through Tuesday, when temperatures will drop 13 degrees compared to Monday and top out at about 70.
Maze said the best chance for rain comes Wednesday.
"Wednesday looks like a wet day and a cool day," he said.
After two days of cooler weather, temperatures will once again jump into the mid-80s for Thursday and Friday before cooling off for over the weekend.
