Cocaine worth nearly $100K seized in two-year probe

Members of the Greenville Drug Task Force stopped a vehicle driven by Dylan Corvett Coffield, 35, at Old Pactolas and North Memorial Drive Friday afternoon, police said. Officers seized 56 grams of crack cocaine from the vehicle.

Police said that a search of Coffield's residence at 1224 Tenderleaf Court in Greenville turned up 392 grams of powder cocaine, 140 grams of crack cocaine, a stolen .40-caliber handgun, a stolen 42-inch flat screen television and $1,520 in cash.

During the two-year investigation into Coffield, authorities said, they seized a total of 952 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $95,200.

Coffield was charged with six counts of trafficking cocaine, three counts each of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of possession of a stolen firearm. More charges are pending, police said.

He was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

Coffield's criminal record dates to 1996 and includes convictions for selling drugs and hit-and-run, according to state Department of Correction records.
