The Coast Guard was searching Sunday for a man who went missing near Bonner Bridge in the Oregon Inlet.

<b>AVON, N.C.</b> — The Coast Guard was searching Sunday for a man who went missing near Bonner Bridge in the Oregon Inlet.

Kristopher Mueller, 38, of Avon, was last known to be spear fishing in the vicinity of Bonner Bridge. Authorities were notified of Mueller’s disappearance at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, after he had not been seen for over an hour.

Mueller’s vehicle was found by the National Park Service while Coast Guard personnel found his kayak with fish, a life jacket, and a cell phone still aboard. The Coast Guard also found snorkeling gear on a piling nearby.
