Coast Guard searching for man missing in Albemarle Sound

Hertford, N.C. — The Coast Guard was searching Wednesday night for a man who went missing off the Albemarle Sound after swimming with a friend.
Officials said the Coast Guard was notified at about 5:20 p.m. that a man was missing near the entrance to the Yeopim River in the Albemarle Sound near Hertford.
A North Carolina Wildlife crew that arrived on the scene before the Coast Guard pulled another man from the water. That man said he and his friend went for a swim from the back of a pontoon boot that drifted away before they were able to get back on.
According to his friend, the missing man was last seen clinging to a crab buoy.
