Coast Guard rescues man from grounded North Carolina boat

Posted October 4

— The Coast Guard has helped rescued a man whose boat ran aground in a North Carolina river.

The Coast Guard said in a news release that the Wilmington office was called shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday about a man on a 40-foot vessel who had put out an engine fire and run ground in the Neuse River.

The Coast Guard sent a crew from Hobucken but the 45-foot boat was unable to get close to disabled craft. A person with a smaller boat took two Coast Guard crew members to the stranded boat and brought them and the boater back to safety.

The Coast Guard took the man to an emergency medical service team on shore. His name has not been released. There was no immediate word on his condition.
