ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued two crew members from a 39-foot sailing vessel about 90 miles southeast of Cape Lookout Friday night.

Rescue Coordination Center Den Helder, Netherlands, received a distress call from the crew of Risque saying they had lost their rudder and needed assistance. The center contacted the Coast Guard in Portsmouth, Va., while the two crew members put on life jackets and stayed in radio contact.

A Coast Guard airplane and helicopter flew out of Elizabeth City picked up the stranded sailors around 7 p.m. and brought them back to the air station.
