A husband and wife in Zebulon lost everything after their house caught fire on Monday.

Calvin Mills and Sharon Wiggins-Mills are both long-time school teachers. Wiggins-Mills is a teacher at Zebulon Middle School and Mills teaches at Southeast Raleigh High School.

On Monday—while in class—Wiggins-Mills received a call that her house was on fire. By the time she arrived on scene, she realized it was a total loss; clothes, valuables and cars were gone.

Immediately after teachers at the school heard about the disaster, a Go Fund Me page was created to help the couple recover.

“One of the things about her is she’s always been the type of person that’s been so giving and so caring to others during their time of need, and now that she is in this position, I think that she has found it kind of difficult to accept,” Rhonda Dunn, a teacher at Zebulon Middle School, said. “But they are extremely appreciative of all of the showing of love and support that they’re receiving.”

The GoFundMe page has more than $2,500 in donations.

Teachers at Zebulon Middle School told WRAL News that the Mills family is staying with family.
