Clubgoer killed, second shot in Greenville

Greenville police said that one man was killed and another shot in the face early Saturday, likely after an altercation at a nightclub.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Greenville police said that one man was killed and another shot in the face early Saturday, likely after an altercation at a nightclub.

Officers responding to reports of gunshots around 2:45 a.m. found Derek A-Shaheed Brathwaite, 25, of Greenville, lying facedown in the parking lot of Club Fuzion, 1311 W. Fifth St.

Brathwaite had been shot in the chest, police said. He died at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Meanwhile, a second shooting victim, Ernest Joshon Wright, 24, of Greenville, was transported to Pitt Memorial by private vehicle. Wright had been shot in the face, but police said his injuries were non-life-threatening.

Police said that Wright was shot during altercation at Club Fuzion. Investigators had not yet been able to talk to him.
