— A female clerk was sexually assaulted Saturday night during a robbery at a Fayetteville auto parts store, police said Monday.

Two men went into the Advance Auto Parts store at 2400 Owen Drive at about 8 p.m. Saturday and asked for information about an auto part, police said. While one of the clerks began checking for the part, one of the men pulled out a gun and demanded money.

The two robbers then moved two clerks to the rear of the store, and one raped a female clerk while the other held a male clerk at gunpoint, police said.

The robbers fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

Lt. Todd Joyce of the Fayetteville Police Department called the case “very disturbing” and “heinous.”

About an hour later, two men matching the description of the Fayetteville robbers held up an Advance Auto Parts store in Lumberton, police said.

The clerks provided only sketchy descriptions of the robbers, noting that they are in their 20s and were wearing black baseball caps and dark clothing.

Anyone with information about the Fayetteville robbery and assault is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

Why on earth was the most important part of their descriptions left out? Political Correctness run amok? Describing their clothing is pointless. You can change your clothes, but not your skin. Boneheads!!!

Not their first rodeo and not their last until they are planted.

@BreBoy, the article did not say "rape" yesterday when I read it. They update stories as new data arrives and rightly so.

I'm saddened by this and hope they catch these dangerous and violent criminals.

"Sexual assault" is unwanted sexual contact and need not be rape. It can be a simple pat on the tushy or a grope. Basically, they would lock up every man on the TV Show "Mad Men". I'm hoping that's *all it was.

Society really needs to get a handle on these people as opposed to the current slap on the wrist, ostrich head in the sand, 'they will reform' mentality.

How many people comparing Fayetteville to the Middle East have actually been to the Middle East?

nessa, I thought the Middle East comparison was a fair one and quite accurate.

(*It's still assault, still could be traumatic and still should be punished)

People that are saying Fayetteville is the worst place in the country obviously don't get out much. They should try living up north. For example New York and Chicago. And how dare people compare Fayetteville to the Middle East! I'm sorry but I bet people in the middle east would kill to live in Fayetteville. They are blowing people up daily over there.
