CLAYTON, N.C. — A Raleigh man is accused of shooting a Clayton woman after knocking on her door early Saturday.

Clayton police said that Justin Allen Priest, 27, knocked on 27-year-old Amanda Lynn Conway's apartment at 110 N. Church St. around 1 a.m. and asked to see someone who wasn't there.

He shot at Conway as she closed the door, striking her in the shoulder, police said. She was treated at WakeMed for a non-life-threatening injury.

Priest, of 5016 Cape Breton Drive in Raleigh, was arrested late Saturday in Durham on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Durham County jail, pending transfer to Johnston County. His bond was set at $500,000.

Conway and Priest are acquaintances, police said, but Clayton detectives are continuing to investigate a motive for the shooting. More charges might be filed.
