Clayton traffic stop nets drug bust

A Clayton man was arrested Wednesday after police found drugs in his vehicle and home.

Michael Reginald Lloyd of 727 S. Moore St. is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana; maintain dwelling for controlled substance; maintain vehicle for controlled substance; felony possession of marijuana; possession of counterfeit currency; possession of drug paraphernalia and controlled substance in the jail.

Over 400 grams of marijuana, counterfeit money and drug paraphernalia were found in Lloyd’s vehicle after he was pulled over by Clayton police, authorities said. More items, including 468.9 grams of marijuana, were found in his home after police executed a search warrant.

Additional drugs were found on Lloyd while he was being processed at the Johnston County Detention Center.

Lloyd remained in the jail Wednesday afternoon on a $107,500 bond.

    You don't seem to get past the marijuana charges but just in case you didn't read the entire article, let me point out the FEDERAL crime here. Counterfeit money is a felony at the FEDERAL level. So do I think the cops should be ashamed of themselves, or that the rest of America should be "appalled" with the cops behavior? Not one bit. You are absolutely correct that there are better things for cops to focus on, other than JUST marijuana. Things like forged monies. Now where have I heard about cops seizing fake money. UMMMM...Oh yea I remember. RIGHT HERE!!!!

    Anyone else appalled at the behavior of law enforcement in this case?

    Arresting minorities for marijuana is ridiculous. There are much bigger problems that deserve these law enforcement resources.
