— Clayton police were searching Friday for the driver of a Ford F-150 who they believe hit a man on Main Street Thursday night.

Kenneth Clark, 51, was sitting near the roadway at the intersection of West Main and Mulberry streets around 9 p.m. when he was hit, police said. According to witnesses, Clark was hit by a utility trailer being pulled by the truck.

Police said Friday the driver may not be aware of the accident.

Clark was taken to Wake Med, where he was in critical condition early Friday after undergoing surgery.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Clayton police or Clayton Crime Stoppers at 919-359-8479. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for tips that help solve cases and callers never have to identify themselves.

Way things work around here the driver will get charged with something anyway. Even if he was unaware that the trailer hit a man sitting partially in the street
