Clayton man faces DWI charge after accident

Posted September 25, 2008

— A Clayton man faces a driving while impaired charge after a Wednesday night accident on Mial Plantation Road, police said.

Greyson L. Johnson, 26, was driving north on Mial Plantation Road, off of Highway 70 between Garner and Clayton, when his vehicle crossed the center lane at a high rate of speed around 11:20 p.m. The vehicle veered off the road to the left, then ran off the road to the right, hitting trees and overturning.

Johnson was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to WakeMed, but his condition was not immediately available.

In addition to DWI, Johnson was charged with careless and reckless driving.

chivegas, I agree with you as far as dwi offenders overloading the jails. But as far as ordinary criminals, they need to be confined. Some say it's too expensive to do that but I don't believe they take into consideration that the crimes they commit are expensive and most are probably on some kind of public assistance anyway.

The way the country is headed it may become necessary for them to be confined so that the rest of us who will be needing public assistance can survive.

With as high of a percentage of North Carolinians that have a past DUI, if we did this, we wouldn't have enough jails in the whole US to hold all the offenders. Not to mention our local economy would be decimated with all the normal working folks who'd be in jail.

And if you kill someone while driving drunk, you get a life sentence.

    God bless.

There is a special on wral tonight I believe where they are saying most of the dwi charges will be changed to a different charge before they go to a judge. Maybe they need to get one of those mouthy, throw 'em in jail judges that run the man eater's courts to handle the dwi offenders.

Drunk driving, no seat belt (he was ejected from the car)and causes an accident. In Johnston Co, they will reduce it to speeding and fine him $100.

So was this the only DWI arrest last night? Where are the others? Why is this one special? I'd like to hear about all of them, every day.

Courts must begin to tighten up on DUIs. I know the insurance rates seem to go thru the roof, but this has not stems the tide.

Mial, not Mile. People fly on our road - especially the dump trucks that have taken out my mailbox 4 times in the last year. Thank god he didn't hurt anyone!

I heard the sirens last night and I have to tell you, it sounded really bad. I am not sure how many responded, but it seemed to go on forever.
