Clayton home burns again; arson suspected

Posted December 15, 2009

— State and local authorities in Clayton were investigating a suspicious fire Tuesday.

Firefighters extinguished a small fire inside a house at 12 Cameo Court at 8:10 a.m., authorities said. The home, which is under construction and has never been occupied, was set on fire on Oct. 31, and a preliminary investigation indicates the latest fire might also have been set, authorities said.

No estimate of damages is available since the structure had been more severely damaged in the October fire and no repairs had begun as of yet, authorities said.

Anyone with information about either fire is asked to call the Clayton Police Department at 919-553-4611 or Clayton Crime Stoppers at 919- 359-TIPZ (8479).

Sorry John, but this is likely just someone looking to collect insurance on a house that won't sell. I doubt that the vacant house fire was the work of a serial arsonist, but it is an intersting thought to contemplate.

Hopefully the arsonist is caught and put in jail! What kind of disrespectful person (or group)would set ANOTHER fire there? That is just rediculous.
