— Raleigh native Clay Aiken will be back in the spotlight beginning in February.

The "American Idol" runner up will be competing against a mob boss widow, an IndyCar champ and others on Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice," which returns for its new season Feb. 12.

Since his Idol days, Aiken has recorded five albums and sold millions of copies, but he's also spent time out of the spotlight to raise his son, Parker Foster Aiken.

On "Celebrity Apprentice," Aiken will join Victoria Gotti, Michael Andretti and several others, including radio host Adam Carolla, comedian Arsenio Hall and magician Penn Jillette.

Trump announced the new batch of contenders on Wednesday's "Today" show.

Some other noteworthy contestants include "Real Housewives of New Jersey" cast member Teresa Guidice, comedian Lisa Lampanelli, former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza, rock star Dee Snider and "American Chopper" star Paul Teutul Sr.

Rounding out the rivals are singer-actress Aubrey O'Day, model Cheryl Tiegs, singer Debbie Gibson, "Star Trek" star George Takei, singer Tia Carrere, actress-model Patricia Velasquez and "Incredible Hulk" Lou Ferrigno.

Clay is starting to look a little freaky. Not exactly sure why though.

Aiken's career must not be tracking the way he thought and he needs the publicity. I suspect Trump is going to be hard on him and Clay is going to throw a tantrum. Should be interesting to watch unless the paint is still drying on the living room walls.
