RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh residents can recycle their Christmas trees simply by putting them at the curb on their regular trash collection day.

The city’s Solid Waste Services Department recycles natural Christmas trees into wood chips and mulch and sells the products at the City’s Yard Waste Center, 900 N. New Hope Road.

Trees must be free of stands, lights, ornaments and tinsel and should be put out no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day.

Artificial trees can be discarded with the normal trash. The city asks that residents take artificial trees apart before placing in the normal garbage cart.
