The City of Raleigh Museum in downtown Raleigh is launching monthly storytimes in February.

Starting Feb. 7 and on the first Tuesday of every month in 2017, Sammy the Squirrel, the museum's mascot, will be there for storytime from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Each event will include a new theme, stories, a chance to explore the museum and a project for the kids. The projects will use simple materials to create a take-home souvenir, with no mess, according to a press release.

The museum is at 220 Fayetteville St. Admission is free.
