GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Members of 22 churches gathered on Saturday for a prayer walk against violence in Goldsboro.

More 150 people turned out for the STOP the Funeral Initiative, which began at St. Mark Church of Christ on W. Ash St.

Participants then walked through West Haven Apartments.

The initiative is designed to bring awareness to the issues of drug and gang violence and to promote change.

It is held annually through collaboration between Rebuilding Broken Places CDC, the Goldsboro/Wayne Branch-NAACP and the Wayne County Faith Community.
