Christmas tree pickup begins Monday in Fayetteville

Posted January 2, 2009

— Christmas tree pickup begins Monday for Fayetteville residents and ends Jan. 9

Residents should place their trees – stripped of lights, stands and trimmings – at the curbside to be included in the special collection, the city said Friday.

There is also a drop-off at the Cape Fear Botanical Gardens on U.S. Highway 301 North. Anyone who misses the pickup or lives outside the city can drop off a tree there any day before Jan. 10.

The trees are used for mulch on woodland paths and flowerbeds at the garden.

Don't mention the Botanical Gardens to me. I'm still miffed that the city gave a public park to their buddies who charge admission.
