We have at least five Christmas parades scheduled for Saturday. With the rainy, cold forecast, I know many are wondering if they're still on. The answer: Yes.

Here's what I know:

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Parade at 10 a.m., Saturday, is rain or shine.

Here's what the parade's website says: "The parade is a rain or shine or snow event and will take place this Sat. Dec. 14 unless there is a national weather alert. ... Please dress accordingly if you are attending the parade or marching in it."

Cary's Christmas Parade at 2 p.m., Saturday, is rain or shine. It will be canceled only in the event of lightning or a tornado. In all other cases, it will carry on, according to the Cary Jaycees.

Here's what the Jaycees shared with me by email: "This year, the Cary Jaycees will likely be holding the parade in the rain. With over 100 entries, thousands of spectators, and a year full of holiday parade preparation, there is no opportunity to reschedule this annual festivity. It takes a community and large amount of police service to put on the Saturday event. So, a little rain will not dampen the Christmas time spirit! If you are with a group that cannot make it out in the rain, we will miss you and hope to see you next year. Remember to bring your umbrellas, jackets, towels and some holly jolly excitement tomorrow at 2 p.m."

Wake Forest's parade also is 1 p.m., Saturday. The town put out a lengthy press release Thursday to explain its rain or shine policy.

"If there was ice and snow in the forecast, we would certainly consider postponing or canceling the parade because safety comes first," said Downtown Development Director Lisa Newhouse in the release. "But with a forecast of showers and no promise of good weather in the future, we're keeping everything as scheduled and hoping for the best."

Holly Springs' 11 a.m., Saturday, parade also is rain or shine, according to the town.
Clayton's 3 p.m., Saturday, parade also is rain or shine, according to the town's chamber of commerce.

Check the box above for more information about each of the parades.
