Christmas Eve shoppers in Fayetteville squeeze in last-minute sprees

Crowds of shoppers shuffle through stores on Christmas Eve to finish out their holiday shopping.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The day before Christmas is the final chance for procrastinators to grab some holiday gifts or for savvy shoppers to snag a deal.

Whatever the reason, plenty of people are shopping on Christmas Eve.

At Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville, the last-minute shopping is good for retailers as the holiday shopping season winds down, but people are also squeezing in time for a photo with Santa before he takes off for another year.

Around noon on Thursday, the crowd was still making its way through the mall, which closes at 6 p.m.
