Yesterday, the focus was on Christmas tree farms in western North Carolina where you can cut your own Christmas tree as part of a package with local inns, B&Bs and motels. Click here to read it.

But you don't have to travel to the western edges of the state to cut your own tree. We have some local farms here where you can choose and cut your own.

Here's where to find them:

Northlake Christmas Trees & Nursery, Benson. Opens Nov. 29
Boyce Farms, Raleigh
Jordan Lake Christmas Tree Farm, Apex, in Chatham County
Mistletoe Meadows, Garner. The farm is in the mountains, but they do have a pick and cut option in Garner. They have hay rides and refreshments on the weekends.
Corn Hill Farms, Kittrell (about six miles south of Oxford).
Doby Tree Farm, Cameron.
Teri-Jim's Christmas Trees, Dudley. 919-735-8140.
A note this year: Back Achers Christmas Tree Farm in Raleigh will not be opening this year, according to its website.
